FAQ from the Federal Ministry of Finance on the Introduction of E-Invoicing Published

Yesterday, the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) published a comprehensive FAQ list on the introduction of electronic invoicing (e-invoicing). These FAQs are now available on the BMF website and provide companies and public administrations with important guidance on the upcoming legal requirements.

The introduction of e-invoicing is a key component of the digital transformation in accounting. It not only supports a sustainable and paperless exchange of invoices but also simplifies compliance with tax and legal regulations. The BMF's FAQ covers a wide range of topics:

  • Legal foundations of e-invoicing and their significance.
  • Technical standards such as the XRechnung format or the use of the PEPPOL network for the secure exchange of invoices.
  • Practical tips for implementation and integration into existing systems.

These insights are particularly relevant in light of the upcoming mandatory receipt of electronic invoices in the B2B sector, set to be introduced in Germany on January 1, 2025. Companies should therefore familiarize themselves with the new requirements early on and adjust their processes accordingly.
